As the Savior himself could not save without the shedding of his blood, so neither can he now save those who reject him and treat his blood as an unholy thing. He it is "whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the forgiveness of sins that are past"—and the "faith in his blood" is as necessary to make the propitiation available for the sinner as was the shedding of the blood itself. If so, then the folly of trusting to the fact of the atonement for salvation, without accepting and honoring it, is manifest to every one. "He that believeth on the Son of God hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him."
