Now he understands what is meant by the doctrine of justification by faith in Jesus Christ. He now learns, that although the death of Christ is the meritorious cause of justification, yet faith is the instrument by which pardon is obtained and mercy is found. He now sees that Christ is the object of faith, the great centre of attraction to all the redeemed, both in heaven and on earth. He now sees that Christ, by his death, hath destroyed death itself, its power is lost, and its bitter pangs are removed. He now sees that life and immortality have been brought to light by the Gospel which Jesus Christ has proclaimed to us.
