Do not you feel a tender concern for the interest of him who loved you, and gave himself for you, to redeem you from all iniquity? Surely a recollection of the Saviour’s unbounded goodness; a grateful sense of his dying love, will constrain you to avoid whatever will injure the credit of his religion, and to endeavour, by an holy conversation, to reflect an honour on his cause. Permit me to add, that a conversation becoming the gospel, is essential to the peace and comfort of your own minds. However evangelical our opinions may be, unless our tempers and conduct be evangelical too, we can have no reason to conclude that we are christians.
