Let us lift up our Voice like a Trumpet, call after, and address them in the most earnest Manner, and follow them with the most melting Perswasions; set their dangerous Case before them in the most striking Light, and display the Gospel in all its Charms, and unwariedly pursue them, untill we compel them to come in that they may be saved: Let the Love of Christ constrain us, who laid down his Life for our Sins; and his blessed Example, who in the Days of his Flesh laboured incessantly, going about doing good, animate us.
Charles Beatty — Double Honour Due to the Laborious Gospel Minister (sermon at the ordination of William Ramsey, Fairfield, New Jersey, December 1, 1756), 1757, p. 53
