Our blessed Redeemer brought more Glory to God in the Agonies of his Passion, than by all the Miracles and Ministry of his Life. In his dying he conquer’d Principalities and Powers, there he disarm’d Death of its Sting, destroy’d him who had the Power of it, and rescu’d us from the Power of the Grave. It was then he finished Sin, made an end of Transgression, and brought in an everlasting Righteousness, every way commensurate to the Law, and satisfactory to divine Justice. Nor are the Saints ever more to the Praise of his Grace, than when they glorify him under the severest Trials, by a patient and silent Submission to his Will in what they suffer.
