The constitution of the person of Christ, and the salvation of a fallen world by him, is the most wonderful contrivance of the wisdom of God. In it, all the properties of the divine nature and the honour of the divine government are deeply concerned. It is designed to give the brightest display of the infinite glories of God’s wisdom and goodness, mercy, love and grace: It secures the honour of his holiness, truth and justice; and is suited to exalt the divine character and humble the proud sinner, and yet opens a way for his recovery and salvation.
