Now if I had but to hold up my hand to make this righteousness complete (by which I hope to be saved) I would look God in the face, and boast of having done something towards the salvation of my soul, in as much as there was some degree of merit in the motion of my hand.—But, sinner! salvation is not of works, neither in whole, nor in part, but entirely of the Lord. We are not saved for any righteousness wrought in us, nor any righteousness wrought by us; but through a righteousness wrought for us by the Saviour.
