Jesus, therefore, came to cover our offences, and to bring in a better righteousness. Him hath God set forth a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to manifest his righteousness in the remission of sins that are past; to manifest his righteousness in order that God might be just, as well as the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus. Being justified by faith in him, sinners have peace with God. To this they are shut in on every side by the clear manifestation of each man's inexcusable offences. Against these, God has revealed his wrath, and he has appointed the day in which that wrath shall be executed in righteousness. By no law is he compelled, and by no promise has he engaged to bless a sinner out of Christ.
