The mean of receiving and enjoying salvation is faith, which worketh by love. Christ dwells in our hearts by faith. We are justified by faith. We are children of God by faith. We are sanctified through faith. By faith, we receive Christ Jesus the Lord, live, and stand, and walk; and through faith we are kept and saved. Salvation, as hath been observed, is set before us as a blessing to be received; and faith, which is a work of God in us, and a gift of God to us, is the mean, instrument, or hand, by which we receive the blessing of salvation. All his appointments are made in wisdom, and wisdom is conspicuous in this. The mean is fitted to the end. The praise of the glory of his grace is the end of salvation.
