It is one principal part of a Minister’s Service to Preach the Gospel of God our Saviour. To Preach the solid substantial and savoury Truths of the Scriptures, and not the fancies and inventions of Men. And however mean and trivial, ignoble and inconsiderable, this Work may be esteemed, it is truly great and excellent, as it is the ordinary Means of turning Men from a Form of Godliness, and resting in an external Profession, to the Power of a living Faith; and should this Vision fail the People would perish. Ministers are Commissioned and sent to teach the great Mysteries of Godliness, to publish the glad Tidings of Salvation, and to make an unlimited tender of Christ and his Grace to the chief of Sinners.
