We base our plea wholly and entirely on the ground of the atoning sacrifice he has offered up in our behalf. When we offer prevailing prayer, we approach the cross, and look up and ask our heavenly Father to open his ears and listen to the groans of Christ: to open his eyes and behold the crimson tide poured out in our behalf, and then for his sake to hear and answer and defer not. Now remember, any man who throws away the vicarious atonement of Christ, throws away the last hope, the only hope of this fallen world. It is through that atonement alone that sinners have access to God. It is through that alone they can offer prevailing prayer.
