Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has come down from Heaven to purchase a pardon for human guilt, and make peace with God for man through the blood of his cross. He, the Lord of all, took our nature upon him—lived a life of perfection—sustained innumerable sufferings—performed miracles of mercy—subdued the power of Satan,—suffered the death of the cross, and thus made an atonement for us: Then he rose from the dead triumphing over sin, and death, and hell, and ascended to God with the trophies of his victory, and there he pleads the merit of his blood, and invites us to look unto him and be saved. Hear him saying, "Come unto me all ye that are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
