Now it must be your sincere desire and unwearied endeavour to bring all these to a saving acquaintance with Jesus Christ, and the method of salvation which God has contrived thro' the blood of the cross. And to this end, besides what you do in a more private way as opportunity shall offer, and prudence direct, you will generally chuse Gospel-Subjects; and be sure to treat every subject you take in hand in a gospel way, giving it an evangelical turn, proving it by gospel arguments, and urging it on your people by gospel motives. And you will doubtless by experience find, that a clear method, an easy stile, and an experimental searching way of preaching, will be most profitable to the bulk of your hearers.
