Neither is there any way of a sinner’s being accepted with God the Father, but in and through Christ; And when God looks upon a sinner through his beloved Son, then the sinner is comely in his sight, for God doth not behold, the least spot of sin upon that soul; so that we have need to pray with David Psalm, lxxxiv. 9. Lord look upon the face of thine anointed! For then God is well pleased with us, after all that we have done, so that all they who would come to God aright, must come to him, pleading of Christ, the sufferings of Christ, the Death of Christ, the Resurrection of Christ, and the Mediation of Christ; then will God (in his own good time) for Christ’s sake, blot out their sins as a cloud, and their transgressions as a thick cloud.
