Our Saviour now chuses another Method; and endeavours to win Men to his Laws, by miraculous Love and Kindness; demonstrating his Omnipotent Power no less by shewing Mercy, than God had done before in executing Vengeance. Chusing to work upon their Gratitude, rather than their Fears; and by doing for them, what they must acknowledge far above their Deserts or Desires, to render them more ashamed than afraid to displease him: Thus he endeavours to cure the Distempers of their Minds, by removing first the Maladies of their Bodies. This was the sweet, the easy Deportment of our Saviour's Life: This the continual Course of his Practice. The great Business that he undertook; the main Concern that he prosecuted, was to seek and to save that which was lost.
