A sweet feast from 1 John v. 13, which came in this way, "I have written unto you that believe in the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe;" that ye may know ye are safe, but not rest satisfied, saying, I have believed, but still go on believing, "that ye may believe;" how sweetly did it show the continuation of the life of faith, that as far as the believer is healthy, it is a continual believing, living on Christ. The Holy Spirit bring me more into this single-eyed faith, that every day I may know I have eternal life, and may believe. The first epistle of John has been to me lately a garden of most fragrant sweets and delicious fruits; thanks for the Holy Bible, and the sacred Spirit shining on its dear contents.
