Where there is a living faith, it is an active faith and a courageous faith. True faith leads us to accept all God's gifts and use them. So the same faith which enables a sinner to receive and put on the wedding garment of Christ's righteousness will also enable him to take and put on the whole-armour, or panoply, which God gives him. We should be sadly wanting in faith if we were to refuse to wear and use this equipment, which makes the believer invulnerable. Indeed, faith is the essence of all its parts, next to that truth or sincerity of heart which alone can enable a man to look away from the manifold attractions of time and sense to the peace, the deliverance, and the everlasting possession which Christ offers.
