Our resignation and our faith must not be merely general, but particular. It is in special instances we are put upon our trial. We must not say, I could endure another sort of vexation, but not this. I could bear a different annoyance, but not this. This is precisely the one which God assigns to us, and perhaps, for the very reason that we are so intolerant of it. The duty of humble submission is as imperative under this as under any other trial.
