And this Justification is received only by Faith, whereby the Blessing and Benefit thereof is made known to the Sinner’s Heart, which Faith is called the instrumental Cause. We are justified by Faith in Jesus Christ. We have believed in Jesus Christ, that we may be justified by the Faith of Christ; and not by any Works of our own according to the Law. And this Faith is not a Work of Righteousness, by which we merit Justification; for this would be making Faith a Work of the Law; but it is the Hand or Instrument ordained of God, whereby we receive Jesus Christ, as he is made of God unto us, Righteousness, for our Justification.
