Others neglect Christ, because they think they can do without him; imagining that their own righteousness and strength will be sufficient for their salvation, they make very little account of the Saviour. But they who are savingly enlightened, who have heard and learned of the Father, and therefore have come to Jesus; all of these have an high esteem of him, and he is more to them than all the world. Christ is their hope, Christ is their refuge, Christ is their righteousness and strength, their salvation, and their all. And if he be thus precious to us, as he is to them that believe, then it is the great business of our lives to seek an acquaintance with him, to serve and honour him, and to get to that world, where we shall behold his glory, and be for ever with him.
